My Twitter Goal:

Is to build relationships with others that use twitter. If you feel like emailing me here is my address josh@joshwhitford.com

My Twitter Policy

Confidentiality
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. If you tell me something that is not meant for the public it will stay where it belongs.

Subject of postings
I post about what I am passionate about. I am passionate about a wide variety of things stretching from marketing and Internet trends to travel and much more. I am not going to post about little things that happen in my life. You can learn more about me and my personal interests on my about page of the blog or on the blog itself.

Conversations
I am trying to limit the number of postings on Twitter per day as to not annoy too many people. If we get engaged into a longer conversation I will resort to DM, email, phone or Skype.

Me following you
Due to the number of new follows, it can take some time until I get to review your profile. If I follow you, that means I’ve checked out your postings on Twitter and possibly went to your website (or via Topify.com in my inbox). There could be many reasons I am following you. Don’t forget there is a 1,000 / day following limit on Twitter, so I might not be able to follow you back right away.

There is a catch though: If I follow you and you don’t follow me back, you have a higher chance of being removed from my follows list when I clean up once in a while. I will usually wait a few days / hours until I decide to unfollow you.

I like to use DM when I see or notice something that is not meant for the public. Seeing that window that I can’t DM you because you are not following me is annoying.

There is one exception from this rule: If you are a very unique thinker who I consider totally essential, you are fairly safe on my follows list. That is your call;-)

You following me
I check out my new follows quite often. If you are of interest to me, you’ll most probably get a follow back.

I look at the relevance, the quality and quantity of your tweets. I’ll also look at your profile and your website if you have one posted there. I sometimes do block spammers and wish I could remove them from my list of followers to keep things clean.

Monitoring Twitter
Even though I follow Twitter on my laptop and on my cell phone, do not expect me on Twitter 24/7. There are other things to do in life, like work. I read DMs. If your DM is personal, you’ll most probably get a reply. If you send me a reply to @therealjosh I’ll read it for sure. In many cases, I will reply – often as a direct message.

Protected Postings
I don’t like that feature very much. It is like a Twitter within Twitter to me. I won’t knock at your door. You’ll have to follow me first.
