@A Master Networker , Now that is a great idea, I would even feature it on the side bar. I am sure people would learn a lot from it as well as some entertainment.

Josh.. just an "after thought"...

A while ago.. I had the idea to do a "success and failure" story line called "Confessions of a Network Marketer"... While I did post <a href="" rel="nofollow"> - i have yet to cont. the series..

Anyway, my life has a way of kicking me in the ass from the most unexpected sources..

Thanks for the kick Josh (and the inspiration)...

Hey Josh..

"Many Thanks" for spinning by and including me in your "Blogger Appreciation Week". Good or bad, I'm always open to the ideas, opinions, compliments, and/or criticism's of others. So I thank you.

Per your suggestion, I think I'll work on a few posts highlighting the "success and failure stories". Experience, both good and bad, is a great teacher.

I have to somewhat agree with Robin re: the fact that the majority of people in network marketing are failing. I do however based on my experience disagree with the "why"...

I think "most" people join a company or mlm without having the knowledge, experience, and or the "critical thinking" skills that are required to discern between a really great network marketing opportunity, a "run of the mill", or a hit and miss (ie:scam) MLM.

As a result, they are easy prey for people (the majority) that are promoting their business through a lot of "hype and manipulation". Instead of choosing a business as a result of using some sort of established "criteria", most of those failing have joined a company because somebody came along and "sold" them on the business, or else they had bought into somebody else's dream for "their" success.

As Robin stated, these are hype and manipulation methods are "old school". Unfortunately for the industry, these old school tactics have a lot of really good, honest, and hardworking people failing, with most of them trying to build a business by duplicating, or by perpetuating the bad habits and the bad behaviors of the “majority”.

And, in an industry where 90% (plus) of the people are failing, it has become a real case of the “blind leading the blind”!

Today with the help internet, it is a lot easier to educate others, to share that "criteria" for choosing a great opportunity, and to encourage people to use their "critical thinking" skills when looking into a network marketing (or any) business.

Again, thanks for your review.

"Kudos"

John Leonard

@Robin, Thank you for the input. I too have failed at mlm marketing. I think that in a day an age of technology and the internet there is greater room for success than there ever was by word of mouth. With the speed of information exchange online it would be pretty easy to do research to find out if a company is bogus or not. I would never recommend blindly pursuing any career on or offline, but rather being open to as many as possible to allow the right opportunity to present itself.

Hi Josh
I would not suggest anyone join a Network Marketing company just because it sounds good. Did you know only about 5% of people ever make money with MLM? The drop out rate is 95% - want to know why? People focus on getting others to join and forget about finding customers. If you sponsor a bunch of folks - they sponsor a bunch but no one buys the product except the reps (they buy to stay active for commissions) how is this a good deal. I was with a NM company for several years and after almost losing my friends, family and a place to go for Thanksgiving dinner I dumped it. It you go with a company that focuses on finding customers and you know how to find these customers you can make money.

There are many things to consider with MLM and money is the last because most will not make money.

No I'm not in MLM anymore - only because the company I joined a year ago switched to affiliate marketing - no more network marketing stigma.

I'm not against MLM - just the way it's done with old school methods tht doesn't work today. People are too smart to fall for the hype.

Have a great day!
