I live in Saint Louis where we get severe storms every spring and fall. I have never been in a tornado though (knock on wood). What I am more frightened of are the damaging winds that come out of some of these storms.

Yep, we have been getting hammered here in Iowa. Holy crap. Tornado, ice storms and floods… Oh my.

The most recent tornado in Sioux City killed 4 kids at a boy scout camp and injured 50 others.

@BillyWarhol Thats really sad about the scouts, what a tragedy. The same goes for the Iowa area where there is all of that flooding. The mid-west is really getting some nasty storms.

@tazdog No I didnt, at the time I was more worried about getting the hell out of my apartment, ha. A tornado didnt actually touch down here but here was a very high chance of it. I am not much of a tornado chaser.

I just got back from a Week in South Dakota at my Sis place* There were a lot of Bad Storms + Tornadoes hitting nearby* We even drove by Little Sioux on our way to the Omaha Airport + I saw one of the Scouts who sadly was killed was from Dakota Dunes where I've played Golf + is close to my Sis place* Tornadoes are very Scary to say the least* Peace* BillyWarhol's last blog post..FUCK ME GENTLY*******

I know exactly what you mean. Tornadoes suck. Hard. My family and I moved to Arkansas from southern California about 3 years ago, and the first time we heard that siren I thought the world was gonna end. Every time there's even a threat of a tornado now, I'm watching the news until it's over. We gotta get back out west.

The safest place to be in a tornado is underground. If you don't have a basement, the most interior room without windows on the ground level of your home is the best.
